Compassion. Expertise. Experience.

"We grow because we struggle, we learn and overcome." -R. C. Allen.

Through my involvement with the chemically dependent population since age 11 (as a child of Christian missionaries from Nigeria), I felt drawn to positively impact the lives of individuals suffering from the disease of addiction. My long involvement with this population helps me empathize with my clients, patiently assess and understand underlying factors and stressors that contributed to substance use, and strategically, with the client, develop a individualized and comprehensive therapeutic plan.

My clientele includes individuals struggling with addictions, addiction and co-occurring disorders, mood disorders, substance-induced disorders, and other stress-related disorders. I use the biopsychosocial model in my approach to addictions. Culture is important in the etiology of addiction, and developing a culturally tailored intervention can improve treatment outcomes.
